The Key to Success, written for a close friend, on the eve of her graduation.

Standing by a silver stream at night,
I look above, and see a million lights,
Which dazzle, glitter, flicker still,
Upon the silent host of daffodils

Though quiet silence fills the darkling night,
My mind moves fast within searching for light.
People come, people go; in and through our,
Inner lives. Wishing, watching, waiting hours.

What to do, what to think; I do not know.
What I do know is that where ’er you go,
You’ll live, you’ll thrive, as your life grows longer.
You’ll learn, you’ll strive, and you will grow stronger.

Where ever you go, my heart goes with you,
My friends are my strength, my life, and my joy.
So though my verse is poor, and my feet are strained
Yet I endure, through blood and tears; stained.

The key is love, though this phrase is clichéd,
Love what you do, do what you love; at least.
And though you may have times hard, long, and sad;
You must stay the course, it is not that bad.

Th’ key to success which you hold in your heart
Must never be lost, it must it must ’er be part
Of the light which guides you; like the bright stars
Which sparkle above me, with Venus and Mars.
