The Horseman, Composed on 23 October, 2011, in a deep reverie.

I am the shadow in the night,
Standing still and listening.
All will fall before my might,
And none shall e’er be left standing

I am the figure in the fog,
Shifting ever to and fro
None shall see my passage forth,
And all will feel my deadly blow

I am the wanderer on the road,
Riding ever here and there.
None expect me, yet all meet,
And I ride on without a care.

I am the rider in your city,
Stalking through your darkened lanes.
All will fear th’ coming darkness;
None shall flee except in vain.

I am the darkness
I am the shadow
I am all that man can fear

I am the rider
I am the horseman
I am that which none can hear

I am behind you,
I am before you,
I am beneath you, above you, within

I am the gateway
I am the portal
I am the unholy scion of sin

I am the rider
I am the horseman
I am Death.

  1. Sick! I really like this one---In the third to last stanza I would say you could take out the you after above---"I am beneath you, above, within."

Other than that it's awesome, the end is really intense because depending on how you read it it seems to be missing a cadence, which surprised me at first, but then it's Death....so it's like the poem just DIES...which is SIIIICKKKK! So yeah...I like.

Someone's reveries are a bit dark though whassuup with THAT?

  2. I like the way you picked up on that. i left the "you" in because it makes the first four stanzas metrically correct, and then the cadences devolves, gasps, and dies. . . .which is the general idea. ;)

As for why, Jon Sharfs died and I guess this is my way of coping with that reality.
