Starlight, composed on 22 November, 2011

I lay beneath an open cloudless sky,
Fixing my eyes upon the depths of space.
The melancholy wind, with wav'ring sigh,
Fills me with emptiness, shows me my place.
This place is cold, dark, weary, weak, and all
My thoughts are jammed together, creating
A caucaphony of chaotic sound.
Sound which, amplified, does sting in my ears.
I neither think, nor dare to hope, that soon
I shall return to the love of my heart.
For I am far too far from my bright moon;
though I think of her, we remain apart.
But for this time I dream within my rest,
Of Sunshine warm, and caked upon my breast.
